Nautilus

Artists: Ben Wade & Warren Pickering Materials: No materials listed for this work Artist statement: The Nautilus stands as a powerful emblem of growth, expansion, and renewal in the natural world. Its intricate chambered shell, with its precise spiral, represents an order that emerges from chaos. This sense of natural order and structure has captured the imagination of many cultures throughout history. In particular, the Ancient Greeks admired the Nautilus for its spiral perfection, viewing it as a model of harmony and balance. About the artist: With a foundation in architecture and building design, I found that my time working in the construction industry sparked a passion for practical design, which led me into carpentry and interior renovations. After relocating to Adelaide, I reconnected with my artistic interests, concentrating on metalwork because of its unique ability to marry strength with natural, organic shapes. Nature serves as my inspiration; I often magnify small items I find, such as seaweed or seeds, to highlight their distinct characteristics. Following ten years honing my craft, my wife and I launched Fleurieu Arthouse in McLaren Vale in 2017, where we showcase our art alongside other creators from South Australia. Since opening, my sculptures have appeared in a range of venues—hotels, schools, businesses, private homes, and more—throughout the community and beyond. Sculpture Price: $28000 To enquire about purchasing this sculpture please email email rosie@gluttony.net.au or speak to the staff at the Information Booth at Gluttony.
