Artist: David Archer Materials: Metal, wood, clay, glass, plastic, found objects Artist statement: This sculpture is a celebration of a young clowns 12th birthday. Its a small family, but happy. Peer into this micro retro world, lost in time, and make it come to life at the crank of a handle. In fact by doing this, you become part of the celebration! Happy Birthday! About the artist: David Archer is a maker of ingenious automata, animatronics and paintings. His career spans more than thirty five years, from childhood inventor through boilermaker to visual artist. Archer holds a visual arts degree from the South Australian School of Art and was a resident at the Jam Factory, Adelaide. He now lives and creates his art south of Adelaide in his Blewitt Springs workshop.
